Part of being a scout in Scouts BSA is earning merit badges. Last fall Todd Hess, Director of Professional Services for EXEControl Global Solutions, had volunteered to work with scouts from multiple local troops to accomplish the Eagle required merit badge Personal Management. After several months of monthly meetings, the pandemic hit and everything had to be done on-line.
Todd said, “It was a challenge. When the scouts lost their routine it became much harder for them to stay motivated. One part of the badge is time management. We went from talking about how to fit everything into a very full schedule to talking about how to use a schedule to stay motivated and not let time slip away.”
Personal Management is one of the hardest and most time-consuming merit badges. It covers how to plan for a major purchase, budgeting, investing, insurance, borrowing money, time management, developing a project plan and career/education planning. Todd said, “In my opinion, this is one of the most important merit badges. Scouting teaches so many great lessons but being able to manage your time and money is something you will be doing for the rest of your life.”
EXEControl is grateful to have employees that are so committed to serving our community. EXEControl wishes each of the scouts involved in the class success in all their future personal management endeavors.
